Our club mission is to promote the improvement of home and community flower and vegetable gardens, lawns, trees and landscaping through friendly sharing of information, work and education. The club is open to anyone interested in gardening.
The annual dues are a modest $24 per person or $30 per couple.
During the year we run fund raising events in order to raise money to beautify our neighbourhoods. Our main fundraiser is our annual plant sale followed by an area garden tour whereby members open their gardens for viewing to the general public. The monies raised at these events go towards supporting Santa's Express and giving a Bursary to a student at Nova Scotia Agriculture College studying horticulture. In addition, the gardens maintained in the surrounding areas are also funded from these events.
Monthly meetings are held on the third Monday of each month and everyone is welcome. Meetings are held February though May and September through November. See the Calendar for details. Currently we meet at the Fall River Baptist Church 36 Lockview Road, Fall River. See map below.
Three projects the club currently sponsors are the LWF Community Ctr., Jamieson Park adjacent to Georges P Vanier School and one of the three gardens at the Waverley Green. http://www.barrydal.ca/cat-hrm-news/fall-river-garden-club/ This year we will be undertaking the design and maintenance of a new garden in front of the Fall River Fire Museum. Watch this space for further details.
Work has started on the new garden at the Fire Museum. See the information page to check progress on this impressive work.
Fall River is located just 15km from Halifax Nova Scotia via Hwy 118.
